About

If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his own language, that goes to his heart”

— Nelson Mandela.

Hello Everyone! 👋 I’m Don from New York 🗽, and I’m re-learning Mandarin again after a long time off. This blog is my attempt to document my process and share whatever I find useful.

Here is my why for learning Mandarin when things get rough:

  • How sad is it that you are ethnically Chinese but cannot speak your native tongue?
  • To visit China one day and be able to navigate and get around.
  • I’d like to be able to order food in the major Chinese hubs in the NYC area.
  • To connect with people when I’m asked if I speak Chinese and have a conversation.
  • Learning Mandarin will keep your mind sharp and active.

That being said, there’s not much here yet aside from vocabulary and phrases as I get a feel for this blogging thing. I’ll hope to get more stuff added soon.

I hope you learn something useful by visiting this site.
